![]() ![]() Controls wise, I have the Steam Deck Windows Controller Driver (SWICD) installed so the controls are converted to xinput (I tried Glossi as I'd had success with glossc in the pass on my desktop, but there were too many issues I ran into to get it to work reliably), HIDhide installed to hide any conflicting controllers and Controller Companion purchased from Steam so I can use the controller to operate windows (mouse and keyboard) if I need to fall back to it, although it sounds like SWICD is aiming to have that all built in eventually. I've got my Windows to load into Playnite Full Screen mode and it automatically fills the library with Gamepass games (there's a PN addon in the general category that pulls everything in and helps install/uninstall games as required). It works, and I am switching between that and SteamOS fairly regularly, but as others have mentioned, there is a certain level of jank to it since it wasn't really made with Windows in mind. I've got mine setup to dual boot precisely for Gamepass. If they could make that more manageable, I think I could tolerate it more. On screen keyboard experience is miserable, and I’m not sure how people are working around that on other gaming handhelds. Steam Deck pretty much convinced me that Windows on a handheld just sucks. On second thought, the fan tends to run a lot just doing normal Windows OS activities so I bet it would run like crazy on any game. Maybe there is a way to fix this, but I haven’t figured it out yet. ![]() Might be because I choose pretty load intensive games (like Halo), I dunno. It gets super hot, and I barely have any battery when attempting to run gamepass games on Windows. The biggest reason I haven’t been using it, though, is that the fan runs almost 100% of the time when using Windows. It’s just not very fun for me to deal with. ![]() The experience is pretty janky to be honest…and I just mean the Windows experience when I say that and as an extension to that, the Xbox app sucks to use on a handheld. ![]() I haven’t used my Deck much, though, for a couple reasons. Was pretty cool to have Halo on a handheld like that through Gamepass. Even played a game of Halo Infinite online. I got Windows up and running and installed some games through Gamepass. I’ll be honest, I was in the same boat as you but decided to take the gamble. ![]()
